How Often Do I Need to Visit My Orthodontist During Invisalign Treatment?

This information helps them create a detailed treatment plan, including how long your treatment will take and the number of aligners you’ll need! Regular Check-Ins: Every 6-18 Weeks

Once you have your aligners, you’ll typically need to visit your orthodontist every 6 to 18 weeks. We know this is a very broad range, but we customize treatment plans and visits to your specific needs. For example, there are some patients with more difficult cases who we will want to follow up with more frequently. At the same time, we also have patients who live abroad and check in via virtual visits every 3-4 months. These appointments are quick, usually involve making sure your teeth are moving as they should be, and offer a chance to discuss how easy it is to clean and care for your aligners. We will also give you the next set of aligners and make any necessary adjustments to your treatment plan.

What Happens at These Appointments?

At these visits, we will:

• Check that your aligners are fitting properly
• Ensure your teeth are shifting as planned
• Address any concerns or discomfort you might have
• If you stick to your treatment plan and wear your aligners for 20-22 hours a day, these check-ups should be pretty routine!

Can I Go Longer Between Visits?

Depending on how your treatment is going, we may recommend longer intervals between visits. This can be helpful if you have a busy schedule, but it’s important to ensure you follow up regularly. Sometimes, we can even arrange virtual visits if you’d like to disrupt your daily schedule as little as possible.
